ABOUT JOÃO
João Quintino Vicente de Jesus: A Journey Through Music
João Quintino Vicente de Jesus, or simply João Quintino to his fans, is a celebrated artist whose roots lie in the picturesque island of Madeira, Portugal.
From a tender age, João showed a profound passion for music, often accompanying family members to local Pilgrimages and Festivals that were integral to his hometown's culture. These early experiences ignited a spark that would evolve into a lifelong dedication to the art of music.
His formal journey into the music world began in 1991, when he participated in various regional festivals, including the Youth Festival and the Faial Festival. It was at these events that he captured the country's attention, winning accolades for both Best Performer and Best Lyrics. This initial acclaim marked the beginning of what would become a remarkable career.
The pivotal moment in João's career came in 1993 with the release of his debut cassette Fui à Venezuela, which featured original songs penned by him. This release set the stage for his future successes. In 2008, João Quintino's star reached new heights with the release of his most celebrated single, Fátima no Coração, which resonated deeply with audiences. The song achieved tremendous popularity, taking him to the international stage to perform for the Portuguese Diaspora across various countries, including South Africa, Venezuela, France, Canada and beyond.
Throughout his career, João has focused on creating music that embodies the spirit of the people, while also crafting beautiful ballads that touch the heart. Many of his songs pay tribute to his beloved Madeira, reflecting his belief that "a work that does not pay tribute to Madeira will never be complete." To date, he has released six CDs containing over 80 original songs, making him one of the most sought-after artists in the realm of Portuguese popular music.
João's music has taken him on a remarkable journey around the globe, performing in diverse locations such as South Africa, Canada, France, Switzerland, England, the Channel Islands, and throughout Portugal, from the northernmost regions to the southern shores of the Azores, and of course, his beloved Madeira and Porto Santo. Through his long-standing partnership with Editora Espacial, João continues to enjoy a robust and flourishing career, increasingly requested for prominent regional events and frequently appearing on national television.
His popular, including
Fátima no Coração, Coisa Linda, Queres Tu Quero Eu, Vem Sair com o João, Adoro Portugal,
Liga ao 112 and Que Grande Confusão beautifully encapsulate the essence of João Quintino's artistry. Accompanied by a talented band of musicians who have been with him for many years, João creates a unique blend of intimacy and energy during his performances, forging connections with audiences.
In essence, João Quintino is not just a musician; he is a true ambassador of Madeiran culture and a cherished figure in the Portuguese music scene.
